AREA Science Park

AREA Science Park of Trieste is one of the leading multi-sector science and technology parks in Europe, dates from 1982 and is marked by 87 research and business organizations, 2.550 skilled persons and 90.000 sqm of equipped facilities. AREA Science Park is managed by AREA-Consorzio per l'AREA di Ricerca Scientifica e Tecnologica di Trieste, a national public research organization with a 130 staff specializing in valorization of research and technology transfer; business planning, incubation and validation of business ideas; business intelligence and networking; management of research and innovation programmes.

Biotechnology plays a prominent role in AREA Science Park and specializes in molecular biomedicine, health-care products as well as agricultural and food based on a cluster of bio-businesses and world-class public research centers - such as ICGEB and ELETTRA - and on CBM-Centre for the Technology Cluster of Molecular Biomedicine, a company controlled by AREA that boasts technology platforms for innovative molecular medicine, manages regional research infrastructures and stimulates entrepreneurial spin-offs.
